Bent Trees
Bent trees stand still
For no wind could ever move them
With the same force
As she did that day
Her hands bound with regret
For what she longed for
Was no more
While in the still of that cold night
All was lost in one single breath
The markings on her flesh
Shining like a beacon
Lighting the way for desires
Not yet lived for
An innocence tucked away
In the folds of a cloak
Never to be worn outside
Of that place again
Blinding her eyes to that
Which was once so clear-
