3: Empowered

Wandering alone through this selfish plane of discovery
Wearing my newfound flattery with great pride.
Content in all of my fulfillment
For their sweet addiction fueled my existence
In the way that the air filled my lungs.
Every inch of my flesh
Bathed in the warmth of their stares
Never to render me helpless,
But to elevate me to a higher place.
One that I had only seen with closed eyes
Underneath a darkened sky.
Solitude,
No longer an option.
Though twisted as they often were,
I began to crave their emotional embrace.

Strangers to one another they remained.
Desperately seeking something just beyond their grasp
As I taunted them ever so innocently.
A desire that never was,
Leaving them on their knees like peasants
Lost in a world that they had only created for themselves.
Wicked thieves as they were
It was only proper that they paid for their devious ways
Which oftentimes are mistakenly rewarded
In a cloud of misjudgment.

Blind to my true intentions,
They willingly bent down before me.
So willing to succumb to my every command
In such a manner that brought a bit of joy to my soul.
Knowing what I knew now,
Knowing how he betrayed me and here they stood.
More of his kind,
Worshipping my very being
With minimal effort on my part.
Naked.
Tempted.
Vulnerable.

In my blind eyes they deserved this.
These foolish games
For which there is no metal.
Winning only in their selfish little minds
Nothing but pure ecstasy of the flesh.
Battling this demon and asking nothing,
I placed my hands where they would be scorched for all eternity
Suffering no pain through the delusion
That my heart was content.
Unknowingly suffocating in this false empowerment,
Fulfillment lacking
In the cold still of darkness-
