9: Twisted Metal

A newfound existence,
So far from the cluttered sphere we once shared,
Humble nobility now casting a brilliant shadow
Upon the desolate dream that once was.
Ungrateful solitude now a distant memory,
Amongst the many shadows of her.
The grass I now tread has grown green once more,
As it softly sways in the sweet breath of a morning sun.
This, the brilliant vision of which I once dreamt
Is now my reality,
That no lack of judgement or false hope
Could ever pry from my hands.
Watching the world through unclouded glass,
As the new summer air so generously filled my lungs,
So perfectly content in life's slightest of perfections.

So it has been told
That perfection can only last but a short while
Before it is tested by forces uncontrolled by us,
The same forces that sever all control
When we most demand it.
It was on that day,
A moment which could never have been foreseen,
When in a single breath, fate met reality
As two steal fists collided,
Combining both past and present.
Bringing together all that was to be forgotten.

Bathed in shattered glass and twisted metal,
Confused by the unpredictable
As the muffled voices of strangers
Echoed frantically in the distance.
For who should appear in my wandering stare
But a vision so selfishly welcoming,
Yet viciously eerie as it was blurred
Sunlight reflecting from her auburn hair,
Highlighting her blood-stained hands
On which she rested her head.
This moment forever branded on my soul
For in a single instant the rest of the world ceased to exist
Amongst the chaotic seamless tragedy
Reflecting off of the cold pavement beneath my tired feet,
The pure sight of her taming the savage beast within.

When all stood still in the violent nature of it all
A wonderful sight to behold
Those sapphire eyes once again.
My body knew no pain as my heart ached for hers.
Reaching toward the devine enemy
Sure to slaughter my every being
Surrounded by a hundred angry faces,
What was my purpose here?
Shall we both perish in a ring of fire,
To insult Him no more
Burying with us the secrets we both held so dear?
For out of this she has made me a liar,
The hopeless endangered entity
Who deserved nothing more
Than to be clothed by a blanket of dirt.
Expecting no more than her hatred for me,
My deepest respects for her rendering all rationality useless
And my body empowered
By the strength it severely lacked at that exact hour.
Disregarding these stranger's attempts to keep me still
For they were truly ignorant here,
I reached for her
Devouring her pain as it scattered throughout my bones
Like a million scalding metal shards.-
