"If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?"
I would definitely choose to retain the body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of my life as opposed to the mind of one. I have always been told that I look very young for my age and I have always been in good health. I would definitely take advantage of that for as long as I'm able to. As for the mind, it is forever evolving and changing. There are always new things to discover and learn. I wouldn't want to limit the possibilities there as that might prevent me from moving forward in life. I feel as though a more youthful physical body combined with the wisdom of someone more experienced, would offer me more opportunities not only career-wise, but in personal relationships as well.
Unfortunately, our physical appearance is considered in both the business world and socially. Companies tend to lean towards individuals who are both pleasing to the eye and have the necessary qualifications for a specific position. Most people over the age of 65 are retired, so imagine combining that amount of knowledge and experience with the body of a 30-year-old. It may not seem like it would impact much, but I guarantee that it would make a big difference in how someone was perceived.
It would be incredibly interesting to watch how this played out socially as the more experienced 30-year-old mingled with others in the same age group who were not so experienced. I imagine it would be quite amusing to confuse others with the knowledge they weren't expecting to come from someone so young. It would also be rather interesting to form new friendships with older individuals as the physically younger, but mentally older me. I doubt anyone would expect the wisdom combined with that much youthfulness. Knowing me, I would most likely play dumb at first and then surprise them with my brain power when they least expected it.
I also believe that one's age has so much more to do with the mind and how an individual chooses to live their life than the physical body itself. I've found that those who are considered "young at heart" seem to appear more youthful than their actual age would suggest. It would make sense that these same people, myself included, would retain that youthful and playful personality for the remainder of their lives regardless, therefore eliminating the need to retain the mind of a 30-year-old.
