Entangled

The possibilities manifest,
Multiply uncontrollably
As you stand there
Silent
Staring at me
With those eyes.
You said it,
I felt it
And now I can only fight it.
My absence
Is my protection,
Shielding me
From the unspoken
Untold truths
Ignited by lingering stares
And meaningless
Conversation.

Take it somewhere
Or leave it be.
This wandering
Is intolerable.
I can no longer breathe
For the air
Is thick with envy
As you so carelessly feed
From the hand

Of a woman

Who has done far worse.

I would like nothing more
Than to rid

My conscious 

Of what might be,

Of what the flesh desires.
There is no sweeter game
None more sinister
Than the one we play.
Devious in our intentions
But are we?
That which plagues the mind
Tarnishes the soul
And wreaks havoc
On ones sanity.
I cannot play your game
Yet I am lost in it
Entangled in its twine
As I kick and scream
To no avail.-
