Oblivious
The risks we take
So often not our own
Oblivious to the dark clouds
Swirling out of our control.
They devour every unspoken word
As if drunk on their own
Foolish pride,
Creating from their jealous minds
These things that they can only wonder.
While from their mouths
Fall exaggerated truths
Meant only
To fill in the blanks,
Whose stubborn eyes refuse to see
Such a basic human connection.
Pure and humble
Free of ill intentions
Accepting what is
And what can never be replaced.
Seeking nothing
But the peaceful solitude
Found in one another
As the beggars and thieves
Fall silent at our feet
Hungry with bitter anticipation.-
