Aftermath
These words fail to escape my fingertips
In the way that they used to;
Every thought returning to you
As I sit here surrounded by the night;
I still feel you on my lips;
All of my efforts
Failing to erase the bittersweet aftertaste;
Harsh are the ways of the world;
People and all of their rules;
Hearts intertwined by everyday things;
Bound by faith while slowly breaking;
I sit here alone;
Thoughts overflowing;
My blood boiling
As I desperately try to silence the noise;
Two voices
Speaking unrecognizable words;
So far away
That my hands cannot reach them;
Damned are the weary
Who allow their souls
To carry this heavy burden;
Unable to escape the solitude
That awaits them on the other side.-
