Scattered
She read the words
And thought she understood
Their meaning;
Scribbled with a pen
Sneaky undertones.
This unforgiving world
With its cruel misguided rules
Set the perfect stage
For ill intentions
Or so they seem.
Angel face baby
With shaky hands
And sweaty temples;
A simple grin
From pretty lips
That have forgotten
How to form
Coherent words.
His thoughts turn to her
And then they turn to nothing
As he stares into her
Ever-changing eyes;
What exists today
Will disappear tomorrow
But only maybe
To return in just a day.
Pick her up
To lay her down
But not the way they meant it;
The daydreams overcome him
While she sees his pretty face
And it makes her think;
Empty yellow boxes
Scattered in her brain;
Scribbled words
On broken paper
With no lines
And only tiny holes.
Take a minute to forget;
Wash the moments from their skin;
Walking silently through the rain
While cursing at the clouds.
If only you don't ask for it;
Close your eyes
And there it is
Laughing in your face
As you take that final leap.-
