Choosing Her
How can she possibly love you
When all you show her
Is disappointment.
Secretly despising her
Because she has a heart,
Claiming you know how she feels
When yours could never come close.
Reprimanded for being there for others
Because you are too weak to stand on your own.
You are supposed to be her safe place,
The arms to protect her.
Instead, you are the one causing her pain,
Too proud to admit that it's true.
So, you point your finger,
Tear her apart with your own insecurities
In the hope that she will keep relying on you,
When all you are doing is feeding her strength.
She has been down further than this.
When you found her,
She relied on no one but herself,
Weary of people like you.
Through her pain she is learning resilience,
A strength you will never know.
While you claim to love her
You are losing her
As she slowly loosens her grip,
Finally choosing herself again
Because you never did.-
