Stranger in the Mirror
She is screaming,
Her pain evident by the tears on her face.
She is wanting
But is pushed away,
Craving what her arms cannot reach
And your only response is to run away from her.
She is tired
With nowhere to rest her head.
She loves
But it is never enough.
Her smile is fading.
Her words have grown cold.
She is losing herself
But no one sees.
To you she is a burden,
An inconvenience
As you lash out with hurtful words
That only paralyze her more.
Her feelings are no longer her own,
Unrecognizable
As they are thrown in her face.
Inside she is dying,
Confused by what is expected of her.
In the mirror she sees a stranger
And she hates her too.
Barely breathing.
Merely existing.
Barely hanging on.-
